The Heber Team
We are a small independent company made up of a team of 14 multi-tasking, enthusiastic and talented staff members, some of whom have been here for over 30 years.
Within our team we have highly skilled individuals who can turn their hand to any number of things, with successful outcomes. Where needed we use trusted subcontractors who know our products and understand our customers needs. We are a close team, with excellent working relationships between departments and staff.
Our management team consists of our five directors; Mark, Richard, May, Ben and Les. In 2018 this team bought Heber Ltd and now own the business and mill building. This means that all decisions are made as a team, for the team, with a genuine enthusiasm and belief in what we do.
Our Directors

May Glassonbury – Financial Director
May, our Financial Director provides leadership to the board’s finance and accounting strategy and guidance to Heber’s partners and clients worldwide.
She works closely with the whole team ensuring every department has what they need, when they need it.

Mark Perkins – Technical Director
Mark is our Technical Director and has been taking products from concept to production at Heber for over three decades. Mark heads up the engineering team along with running production and operations.
Mark is a multi-skilled engineer with strong commercial awareness and a wealth of experience working on a huge range of projects with a focus on technical design. He likes to get involved in customers projects and enjoys being able to look at end products for sale and say, “We did the electronics for that”.

Richard Horne – Commercial Director
Richard, our Commercial Director, has over 30 years of electronics design and development experience. He works with Lillie handling sales, social media, marketing and customer service, alongside developing new products and working with the engineering team. He has 3 desks, all of which are full with numerous projects in various stages of development.
Richard is also an expert in 3D printing and additive manufacture, having literally written the book on 3D printing.

Ben Thompson – IT Director
Ben is IT Director and has been an IT professional for over 20 years. Ben has an extensive understanding of Linux and Windows server and desktop operating systems.
Ben provides the IT infrastructure and project manage various software developments, both for Heber’s own products and many projects for clients and partners, developing and maintaining new creative and innovative IT solutions to enhance customers’ products and Heber services.
Connectivity of devices via the internet, along with IoT, database, UX/UI and user human user interface design projects are just a fraction of the ongoing developments the IT team are working on at any given moment.
Ben also ensures the building maintenance is up to date and has been known to be found opening the sluice gates on the mill pond weir in torrential rain.

Les Ashton-Smith – Chairman / Non-Executive Director
Les is our Chairman and Non-Executive Director. He has a background in electronic instrumentation with a first degree in Electronic Engineering, which led him from product design and development into general management. He holds a Masters degree from Imperial College in Industrial Robotics and Manufacturing and a MBA. He is a fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and is a registered European Engineer.
Les oversees the board meetings and business decisions, and is also enjoying a semi-retired life.
