Heber joins the ranks of Silver Level Industrial Cadets

Heber has been presented with a Silver Industrial Cadets Award and now joins the ranks alongside the Royal Air Force, Airbus and Siemens.

This award is presented to companies who take on a student, through the Industrial Cadets scheme, for hands-on industry experience. It affords employers the opportunity to strengthen their internship and placement programmes, as well as develop new management skills.

The aims of the silver award, for the cadet, are to develop their employability and improve skills such as critical thinking and communication, over a minimum of 30 hours of activities, both individual and team based. Whilst giving participants a unique insight into industry, to ensure they can make informed career choices.

“The most important part of the Industrial Cadets is to inspire students such as Ben, to realise their potential, and motivate them to make the most of what Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects can provide.”

Les Ashton-Smith – Managing Director

As part of the award, Heber supported 15 year old, Tomas Keble student, Ben Latham for one week in their Chalford offices. During this time he gained experience with both administrative and technical roles, and engaged with all aspects of the design and production process at Heber. Upon completion, Ben was presented with his graduation certificate by Kathryn Hamer, Industrial Cadets Engagement Manager for the South West.

Heber Product Manager, Richard Horne, sees the Industrial Cadets Silver Award as excellent news for the future of the industry.

“It is vital that we keep new talent interested in Engineering, so that we can keep innovating and developing new and exciting technologies!”
